The School of Computational Science and Engineering, College of Computing, at Georgia Tech invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship position. The Fellow will work in AdityaLab, led by Prof. B. Aditya Prakash, on innovative cross-disciplinary research, focusing on AI/ML/Data Science with applications to computational epidemiology, public health, urban computing and the web, including highly impactful and award-winning COVID-19 response work.

Recent work done by the lab includes designing data-driven COVID-19 forecasting methods for CDC projects (also featured on FiveThirtyEight.com), developing new methods of combatting Hospital Acquired Infections, inventing novel algorithms for adaptive disease surveillance, and failure analysis of national critical infrastructure. Lab members routinely collaborate with leading epidemiology groups, national labs, web and healthcare companies and other computing researchers at Georgia Tech and other leading universities (spanning ML, algorithms, systems, security and viz). We develop new computational methods in deep learning, network algorithms, probabilistic models, mathematical modeling, and spatio-temporal mining.

Applicants should have a PhD (or be enrolled in a PhD program at the time of application) in Computer Science, Statistics or closely related fields, with background in one or more of Data Science/Network Science/Algorithms/Machine Learning/AI. Prior experience in publications at top related CS venues (e.g. KDD/NeurIPS/ICML/AAAI/SODA/WWW etc) and/or top relevant journals (e.g. Nature/Science family of journals, PNAS, PLoS Computational Biology etc) is important. We are looking for candidates with a strong mathematical background, solid programming skills and great communication skills as well as a passion for tackling challenging real world problems. Prior knowledge or experience in epidemiology not required, but is an advantage.

This is a twelve month, 100% time appointment with the possibility of extension being subject to performance and budgetary approval. Positions start asap.
